This project involved the complete renovation of a 25-year-old beachfront hotel in Zicatela.
Once a local landmark and well-known destination, the hotel had been entirely abandoned over time and left in disuse. The challenge was significant: to bring it back to life and modern relevance—without losing its original essence.
Our goal was to update the building to meet the needs of today's travelers seeking a beachfront vacation, combining contemporary aesthetics, functionality, and a strong connection to the natural surroundings.
Paint as a Design Tool
A central focus of the project was the strategic use of paint as a resource to define zones, highlight architectural volumes, and add character to each space. This cost-effective and versatile tool allowed us to transform the hotel's visual identity without altering the full structure—achieving a fresh, colorful, and expressive look with a clear identity.
Complete Transformation on a Tight Deadline
The entire renovation was completed in just one month, thanks to efficient team coordination. Every room received upgrades including:
Pool Area & Outdoor Spaces
The previously neglected pool area underwent a complete transformation. The pool and built-in concrete sofa were painted with organic lines, lighting fixtures were replaced, and the entire decor was redesigned—creating a lively, inviting space.
Common Areas & Pergolas
In common areas and pergolas, existing furniture was reused, restored, and refreshed with paint. Outdoor curtains were added for shade and softness, along with hammocks to reinforce the hotel’s relaxed and tropical ambiance.
Landscaping & Connection with Nature
We preserved the original vegetation and enhanced it with new species. A thoughtfully designed color palette integrates seamlessly with the natural surroundings, creating a harmonious and enjoyable guest experience.
Façade Design
Natural materials were used to conceal visible air conditioning units on the façade. Given the building’s low height, greenery was added to the upper structure, bringing texture, freshness, and a completely renewed visual identity.
